Also, identifying areas of curriculum necessary for students with severe disabilities and explain why. The essay will discuss the areas of curriculum and the policies, procedures, and programs for the education of students with intellectual disability, autism, severe and multiple disabilities. Today, students are diagnosed with different types of disabilities. Some of these disabilities are: intellectual disability, autism, severe disabilities and multiple disabilities. An intellectual disability is a disability that affects an individual limitations in several areas of cognitive function that interferes with the individual everyday life. Also, the individual has problems with four types of intellectual processes: abstraction, sequencing, understanding social contexts, and be able to read the emotional states of others. Intellectual disability can affect an individuals memory, learning and problem solving. Individuals who have an intellectual disability have a mild intellectual disability. An intellectual functioning level IQ is below 70- 75. An intellectual disability is seen before the student turns 18. The cause of intellectual disability can be caused by head injury, stroke, meningitis, brain abnormality and disease. The intellectual disability can happen before the child is born or it can happen during childhood. For some children, the cause of the intellectual disability is not known. There are some known causes of intellectual disabilities they are: Down syndrome and fetal alcohol syndrome. These known causes happen before the childs birth. There are other causes that happen before a child a genetic condition called Prader-Willi syndrome. There are still other causes of intellectual disabilities that do not happen until the child become older. The definition of Autism is a developmental disorder that shows within the first three years of life of an individual. Autism shows before the child is three years old. The way that autism works it affects the brains normal development of social and communication skills. The cause of Autism is a physical condition that is linked to abnormal biology and chemistry in the brain. The exact of the abnormal biology and chemistry in the brain is not known. But, there are some factors that can lead to autism they are: genetic and environmental factors. Autism seems to have a number of genes involved. Some of the genes make a child more prone to having autism. Some health problems are caused by both genetic and environmental factors. These factors may also cause autism. Severe disabilities are defined as an individual with extreme disabilities that functioning and achievement is unusually difficult for the person. The causes of severe disabilities are: genetic, biological and environmental factors. Multiple disabilities are defined as an individual who has impairments like: mental retardation, physical mobility, learning, speech, visual and hearing. The causes of multiple disabilities are from one of the impairments. The impact of the disabilities on the education of the student with intellectual disability is that the student can do well but, the student will need an individual education plan. The determination of how much help is need depends of the intellectual disability. The areas of curriculum necessary for students with severe disabilities are: including students with intellectual disability into general education curriculum. The students with disabilities should use the same curriculum used by their peers who do not have disabilities. The reason general education curriculum is necessary is because it can give students access to learn the same curriculum as their peers. The general education curriculum can increase students social skills and preparation for their adult life. Another area of curriculum is adaptive skills. Adaptive skills are necessary for students with severe disabilities because there are skills individuals need to live, work, and being able to function in society. There are other areas of curriculum that needs to be included: language and communication and motor skills. These skills are necessary skills to help students to function. Transition planning should be included with individuals with disabilities. The reason is because a plan is needed to prepare students for life. The Mobile County School has district policies, procedures and programs for the education of students with intellectual disability, autism, and severe and multiple disabilities. The Alabama Student Assessment Program this program requires that all students to participate in the Alabama Student Assessment Program. The assessment program requires all students must be included in all assessments. Also, students must have their results included in the state accountability system. The assessments are done in English. All students, including students with limited English, must take state assessments as written in English. An Individualized Education Program Team looks at the referral, documentation on intervention strategies and determine if the student will be evaluated for special education services. The Individualized Education Program Team determines should a child be evaluated for special education services, a written notice, that meets the notice requirements. The rules must be given to the parents and the child must be referred to the Building Based Student Support Team (BBSST). The IEP Team determines that the student should be evaluated for special education services, the agency must have the parents written consent for the evaluation. The public agency must develop and implement procedures to identify and evaluate children suspected of having a disability that affects their educational performance and who may need special education, designed instruction and related services. Hearing and Vision screenings must be first evaluations conducted for all children suspected of having a disability. A child who is identified having a developmental delay, has to be reevaluated prior to their ninth birthday. Students for special education services, at age nine, can no longer be eligible in the area of developmental delay. Students can continue special education services, the child must also be eligible in another area of disability. Conclusion Today, there are many types of disabilities and there is information defining the disability, their causes and their impact of the disabilities on the education of the student with intellectual disability. There are areas of areas of curriculum necessary for students with severe disabilities. There are policies, procedures and programs for the education of students with intellectual disability, autism, and severe and multiple disabilities.

Pierre Trudeau :: Biographies
Pierre Trudeau Pierre Trudeau, former Prime Minister of Canada, was once described as "A French Canadian proud of his identity and culture, yet a biting critic of French-Canadian society, determined to destroy its mythology and illusions". He has also been identified as "A staunch, upholder of provincial autonomy holding the justice portfolio in the federal government". Such cumulative appraisal and observation made by past fellow bureaucrat provides high testimonial for the ex-Democratic Socialist. This critique will establish and dispute the prime directives that Trudeau had advocated in his own book written during the years 1965 to 1967. The compilation of political essays featured in his book deal with the diverse complexities of social, cultural and economical issues that were predominant in Canadian politics during the mid 1960's. However, throughout my readings I was also able to discover the fundamental principles that Trudeau would advocate in order to establish a strong and productive influence in Canadian politics. Born in 1921, Trudeau entered the world in a bilingual/bicultural home located in the heart of Montreal, Quebec. His acceptance into the University of Montreal would mark the beginning of his adventures into the Canadian political spectrum. Early in his life, Trudeau had become somewhat anti-clerical and possessed communist ideologies which were considered radical at the time. Graduating from prestigious institutions such as Harvard and The School of Economics in England, Turdeau returned to Canada in 1949 and resumed his social science endeavors. At this time in Quebec, the province was experiencing tremendous cultural and political differences with the rest of the country. The Union Nationale had taken possession of political matters in Quebec and was steadily dismantling the socialist essence imposed on the province by the Federal government. The current Prime Minister, Maurice Duplessis, found himself battling a religious nationalist movement that corrupted the very fabric of political stability in Quebec. The Duplessis faction maintained their conservative approach towards political reform but failed to sway the majority of the population into alleviating with the demands of the Canadian government. The citizens of Quebec revered their clerical sector as holding 'utmost importance' towards preserving French cultural values and this did not correlate with the Federal government's policies and ideals. Francophones were under the impression that their own Federal government had set out to crush and assimilate what had remained of their illustrious heritage in order to accommodate economic and political tranquility. Trudeau himself had decided to join the nationalist uprising with his advocation of provincial autonomy. Ultimately, he and other skilled social scientists attempted to bring down the Duplessis party in 1949, but failed miserably in their efforts.

Macbeth â⬠Victim or Villain? Essay
As the scenes of ââ¬ËMacbethââ¬â¢, is slowly scene by scene revealed to the audience; Shakespeare wittily shows Macbethââ¬â¢s personality as two different characters, the victim,to Lady Macbeth and the witches and as the villain, througout the play; but with both characters clearley portrayed so that one from the audience may say Macbeth is a victim to greater powers; Lady Macbeth, the witches and his own greed, wheras another may say Macbeth is a villain, who was happy of committing all the bad deeds doing so with his own free will, with various points to confirm their views. Initially, right from the start we hear of Macbethââ¬â¢s goodness before we even meet him; ââ¬Å"good and hardy soldierâ⬠and â⬠Brave cousinâ⬠all show how brave Macbeth is and how he is patriotic, which obviously a villain wouldnââ¬â¢t be, caring, loving or doing anything for their country; they would be caring for themselves and their needs, someone who loves their country will not try and kill the king of the country, especailly a king like Duncan; who was always thinking of the countryââ¬â¢s needs and views first. Secondly, the fact that Macbeth wasnââ¬â¢t so sure on the plan that Lady Macbeth suggested; because even though he had suggested killing Duncan, right before the murder he was thinking about how bad the deed is,he was very confused and he decided not to the deed but it was under the influence of Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s greed that he gave in and committed the inhuman act; â⬠And live a coward in thine own esteem,â⬠which attached Macbethââ¬â¢s masculinity and so therefore Macbeth becomes so angry that he doesnââ¬â¢t really do the deed with his own free will, anger drove him to do it. Furthermore the fact that he actually thinks and lists the positive and the negative sides of doing the deed or not shows unlike villains he does have a ââ¬Ëhumanââ¬â¢ side and that he does care and know about right and wrong; as he thinks to himself â⬠Heââ¬â¢s here in double trust; First as I am his kinsman and his subject Strong both against the deed; then as his host Who should against his murder shut the door, Not bear the knife himself.â⬠This shows that he feels guilty about this; and because of this, he decides that he wouldnââ¬â¢t kill Duncan, but Lady Macbeth persuades him, which further proves that he is a victim. Macbeth was also under the influence of the three witches; because they appeared so inhuman and magical, â⬠Speak if you can What are you?â⬠that when Macbeth heard the predictions he thought as the first prediction â⬠All hail Macbeth, hail to thee Thane of Glamis.â⬠, and the second prediction â⬠All hail Macbeth, hail to thee Thane of Cawdor,â⬠both seemed and came true, so Macbeth thought why wouldnââ¬â¢t the third â⬠All hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!â⬠come true? Did not the witches speak words of wisdom before with the other two predictions? Donââ¬â¢t they seem magical? So Macbeth was victim to the witches throughout the play, thinking about their encounter. If the witches and Macbeth hadnââ¬â¢t met, Macbeth wouldnââ¬â¢t have killed Duncan, Banquo and nor would he have committed all the bad deeds he did. The fact that Lady Macbeth, to add on to Macbethââ¬â¢s lack of manliness gives an example as to what she can do if sheââ¬â¢s promised to do something â⬠Have plucked my nipple from his boneless gums, and dashed the brains out, had I so sworn as you have done to this.â⬠She says this to make him angry and feel ashamed of lacking masculinity so therefore in order to prove he isnââ¬â¢t to himself and to Lady Macbeth he becomes determined and does the deed. Moreover at the end, when Macbeth dies you can see clearley he is a victim who has lost everything, power, family,life the fact that Macbeth is totally disheartened shows he is really upset and (to the audience) seems like a victim. On the other hand, Macbeth can also be thought of a villain, there are many points in the play as to how this is proven. When the three weird sisters are making their last prediction â⬠All hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafterâ⬠his villainous mind quickly starts thinking of the possibilities of becoming king and how to reach this; he immediately suggests this plan to his wife, when she suggests the plans Macbeth immediately agrees to it also when she asks him to leave everything upto her â⬠Leave all the rest to meâ⬠he agrees to it all. Furthermore if Macbeth wasnââ¬â¢t a villain he wouldnââ¬â¢t have been persuaded so easily to kill Duncan; even though women in shakesperean time were supposed to be weak and lesser then men Macbeth chose to listen to his wife, which in Shakesperean time men wouldnââ¬â¢t do. Additionally, after Macbeth killed Duncan instead of learning from and not sinning anymore he carries on to think and plan about killing Banquo his close friend; because Banquo was starting to suspect Macbeth and the fact that Banquoââ¬â¢s sons would be kings. It is a villainous deed to kill or attempt to kill your best friend and his son. Macbethââ¬â¢s courage becomes so great he doesnââ¬â¢t even inform his wife Lady Macbeth when planning to kill Banquo and his son Fleance. Mostly when ââ¬Ëgoodââ¬â¢ people have a special power or belonging they try to be satisfied with it and not to want more, especailly if the way to achieve it isnââ¬â¢t good, wheras Macbeth through his actions constantly shows that he wants more power and that his greed is unstoppably growing, therefore proving he is a villain. Macbeth constantly tries to fight and control fate; instead of leaving it, enjoying and appreciating what he already has he goes to the witches the second time himself instead of avoiding them, â⬠I conjure you, by that which you profess, However you come to know it, answer meâ⬠here he is clearly due to his greed desperate for some sort of ââ¬Ësign or miracleââ¬â¢ to happen from the witches so fate is on his side again. Similarly like a general villain, Macbeth instead of worrying for his wife, Lady Macbeth, when the doctor tells him that Lady Macbeth is in need of a priest, Macbeth doesnââ¬â¢t ask for details he changed the subject to Scotland being in need of help; to add on to the point when Seyton brings the news that Lady Macbeth has finally died, Macbeth says ââ¬Å"She should have died hereafter, There would have been a time for such a wordâ⬠this is one of the most cruelest responses anyone can give to a friendââ¬â¢s death let alone a wifeââ¬â¢s, it just shows how like other villains Macbeth is cold hearted and he has also started to be carried away with his power and greed that he actually states she should have died later in a more appropriate time; which further proves he really has no feelings, which relates to him being a villain. Consequently, I think that overall Macbeth is both a victim and villain; as there are many points to prove both views but isnââ¬â¢t definitely one (a victim or a villain) but a mixture of both. The fact that at the end Macbeth is so sure of the witchesââ¬â¢ predictions show that he is a victim; and a villain for believing what three weird sisters have said, for no proof of what they are but only because theyââ¬â¢ve said something beneficial to him. Without one victimised deed he wouldnââ¬â¢t have done a villainous deed and the same the other way round, Macbeth is both a victim and a villain just like some animals who can both be predator and prey.

Pachyrhinosaurus Facts and Figures
Pachyrhinosaurus Facts and Figures Name: Pachyrhinosaurus (Greek for thick-nosed lizard); pronounced PACK-ee-RYE-no-SORE-us Habitat: Woodlands of western North America Historical Period: Late Cretaceous (70 million years ago) Size and Weight: About 20 feet long and 2-3 tons Diet: Plants Distinguishing Characteristics: Thick bump on nose instead of nasal horn; two horns on top of frill About Pachyrhinosaurus Its name notwithstanding, Pachyrhinosaurus (Greek for thick-nosed lizard) was an entirely different creature from the modern rhinoceros, though these two plant-eaters do have a few things in common. Paleontologists believe Pachyrhinosaurus males used their thick noses to butt one another for dominance in the herd and the right to mate with females, much like modern-day rhinos, and both animals were approximately the same length and weight (though Pachyrhinosaurus may have outweighed its modern counterpart by a ton or two). Thats where the similarities end, though. Pachyrhinosaurus was a ceratopsian, the family of horned, frilled dinosaurs (the most famous examples of which were Triceratops and Pentaceratops) that populated North America during the late Cretaceous period, only a few million years before the dinosaurs went extinct. Oddly enough, unlike the case with most other ceratopsians, the two horns of Pachyrhinosaurus were set on top of its frill, not on its snout, and it had a fleshy mass, the nasal boss, in place of the nasal horn found in most other ceratopsians. (By the way, Pachyrhinosaurus may turn out to be the same dinosaur as the contemporary Achelousaurus.) Somewhat confusingly, Pachyrhinosaurus is represented by three separate species, which differ somewhat in their cranial ornamentation, especially the shape of their unflattering-looking nasal bosses. The boss of the type species, P. canadensis, was flat and rounded (unlike that of P. lakustai and P. perotorum), and P. canadensis also had two flattened, forward-facing horns on top of its frill. If youre not a paleontologist, though, all three of these species look pretty much identical! Thanks to its numerous fossil specimens (including over a dozen partial skulls from Canadas Alberta province), Pachyrhinosaurus is quickly climbing the most popular ceratopsian rankings, though the odds are slim that it will ever overtake Triceratops. This dinosaur got a big boost from its starring role in Walking with Dinosaurs: The 3D Movie, released in December 2013, and it has featured prominently in the Disney movie Dinosaur and the History Channel TV series Jurassic Fight Club.

Financial accounting theory Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
Financial accounting theory - Essay Example Hitherto GAAP have been developed for all type of entities, be those smaller or larger and public or private. Development of alternative accounting standards on the basis of size of the entity is like preparing students at earlier stages to cope with burden of higher studies. But in business the smaller entities some time carry more accounting complications than larger entities as generally less or reduced number of regulatory compliances create a habit of carelessness and thus allowing smaller problems growing into complexities. Before analyzing the needs of smaller entities for alternative GAAP, it is pertinent to ascertain the present international scenario. In United States private companies are not even required to issue financial statements, what to talk to issuing compliances in the shape of standards. Private entities can assess the cost and benefit before following the reporting standards out of the three alternatives available to them. First is to follow the US GAAP in full; the second alternative is reporting under GAAP but such entities can depart from one or two alternatives; and the third alternative is to adopt OCBOA (other comprehensive basis of accounting). UK presents an altogether different approach towards smaller entities. Financial Reporting Standards for Smaller Entities (FRSSE) were developed in 1997 and those were made applicable to smaller and private entities defined and distinguished on the basis of specifies thresholds in sales, assets, and number of employees. With the advent of International accounting standards and their convergence with local standards, the issue of separate standards for smaller entities have again been taken to the fore, mainly because smaller is larger in numbers and they do not need to waste resources comparing the benefits they would receive. Convergences with IFRS are progressing but the issue has remained the same when FRSSE were required on establishment of FRSs.

Megacities of Asia-Korea Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Megacities of Asia-Korea - Assignment Example clock to also eliminate competition because with the increasing growth of technology in the country, business is bound to get better and competition steeper. Profits will also increase as everyone will be scrambling to get the latest technology and devices. Yes it is. This is so because with the increase in technology development and technological devices in Korea, the market will need to expand internationally. This therefore means that people in other nations will get the latest in technology same as the Koreans and in large quantities as the production will be a lot in Korea (Dong-hyung, 2005). The prices of the other technology which had previously enjoyed having competitive advantage as well as some form of monopoly will have to reduce their prices meaning many people will be able to afford to stay connected at a cheaper cost and at a faster rate than before. Some like the marketers may not see this as an advantage but they are few and the consumers who are many have the last say and they are always right as the saying
